Georgia Bandits answer "last call" for
Baseball
It
was a night to remember
another one
run National American Tournament of
Champions (N.A.T.C.) championship game,
key home runs and solid pitching for both
championship competitors! Team Anderson,
out of Placentia, California, was trying
to become the first back-to-back champions
at Dreams Park, since it's inception
twelve years ago, but the Georgia Bandits
from Winder, Georgia put a stop to that
with some early runs and solid pitching in
the late innings. Bandit pitching ace,
Jake Schultz , known as "Big Red", came on
in the bottom of the sixth inning to close
the door on Team Anderson and earn the
save and preserve the win for the Georgia.
Schultz struck out the side and also
lifted the Bandits offensively with a solo
home run to lead them past Team Anderson
5-4, to become the 2007 N.A.T.C.
champions. Tony Hunter led the Bandits
(12-0) with two hits, including a solo
home run as Alex Raburn, Josh Hart and Cal
Baker each added a hit. Mark Hernandez
earned the winning pitching honors,
allowing one run on one hit and striking
out two batters in his relief appearance.
Travis Demeritte started pitching and
allowed three runs on one hit striking out
six batters. The Bandits, managed by
Shannon Ivey, defeated the 28th seed Yorba
Linda Aztecs of California, 12-0, on
Wednesday night. They went on to defeat
the 12th seed Southern California Bombers
of California, 10-2, the 4th seed
California Sting-Bomberz of California,
8-2 and the 17th seed Boys of Baseball
National Travel Team from Alabama, 7-5 to
advance to the championship game. Rio Ruiz
led Team Anderson, which finished 10-1,
with a three-run home run as Eric Hutting
added the only other hit for the team. Art
Vidro and Timmy Lopes combined to strike
out 10 batters. Team Anderson, the
defending 2006 N.A.T.C. champions were
managed by Charles Chatman. They earned
the 2nd seed in the 95-team
single-elimination tournament. Team
Anderson knocked off the 15th seed Los
Alamitos Sluggers of California, 17-6, the
26th seed All American Sports Academy from
California, 14-3 and the 6th seed Hanover
Heat of Virginia, 11-1 to make the
championship show. The N.A.T.C.
championship game concluded the 2007
season at Cooperstown Dreams Park. The
"Summer of 2008" season will begin on June
6th, 2008.

Week #11 Champions - San Diego Stars

The "Stars" come out Swinging in
Victory
The
San Diego Stars needed a pick-off to
squeak out a victory against the
Connecticut Cardinals and claim an
exciting Week #11 Championship. Stars
catcher, Niko Maida, threw out a
Connecticut runner at third base in a
crucial 6th inning play as the Stars edged
the Cardinals, 11-10 at Cooperstown Dreams
Park. On the ensuing play, Eddie Maldonado
drilled a three-run home run to
left-center field to leave the Cardinals
one run short in the game. Maida's play
proved to be the game winner. Offensive
power sparked the San Diego Stars to an
undefeated week, 12-0, as they combined
for 10 hits including home runs by Colin
Winters, Kevin Hagan and Drew Davis. Maida
had an outstanding offensive, as well as
defensive, game as he went 3-for-4 with
two runs batted in. Teammates Gosuke
Katoh, Danny Martin, Mike Martin and Ryan
Noll each added a hit for the Stars. Mike
Martin came on in relief to earn the
victory for San Diego, striking out three
of the nine batters he faced. The San
Diego Stars, managed by Lyle Gabriel,
defeated the 33rd seed South Jersey Sand
Sharks (NJ), 9-7, in their first game of
the 96-team tournament. The Stars
continued their run on Thursday, defeating
the 21st seed Scripps Ranch Falcons (CA),
8-2, the 4th seed Seattle Baseball Select
(WA), 8-4 and the #1 seed Southern
California Golden Spikes (CA), 14-2, in
advancing to the championship game. Coach
Gabriel continued his championship run at
Dreams Park earning his eighth title
overall (3rd as a 12U program). The
Connecticut Cardinals, managed by Mark
Figgie, had an outstanding week in earning
the overall number two-seed and bye on
Wednesday afternoon. They ended the week
at 10-1. In the tournament play the
Cardinals edged the 15th seed Riverside
Rebels (CA), 8-7. In the "elite eight"
they knocked off the 23rd seed Scranton
Miners (PA), 16-11, and went on to blast
the 11th seed Richmond Red Sox (VA), to
advance to the championship game. Bryan
Terzian went 2-for-3, including two home
runs and four RBI to lead the Cardinals.
Glenn Marrus added a home run and three
runs batted in. Jimmy Davitt contributed
with two hits. The Connecticut Cardinals
became the first team from Connecticut to
participate in a championship game at
Cooperstown Dreams Park.

Week #10 Champions - Nor Cal Grizzlies

Nor Cal Rebounds in Extra Inning to take
Championship
"Never
Give Up" echos throughout Dreams Park
again after the Nor Cal Grizzlies found
themselves down by four runs in the top of
the sixth inning of this week's
championship game against the #4 seed Hard
90 Rival. Not only did Nor Cal find a way
to tie the game 8-8 in the sixth but they
added three more runs in the top of the
seventh to claim the Week #10
Champiionship 11-8. Following the spirit
of head coach, David Huerta, the Grizzlies
were led by Mark Mathius who went went
3-for-4 including blasting two home runs,
accounting for four runs batted in and
scoring three times. The team effort was
provided by Brett Binning with three runs
batted in, Chris Flexen two hits and two
RBI's and Jake Villa who added two
additional hits. Pitchers Matt Cobley and
Robert Monchak held the heavy hitting Hard
90 Rival in check in the late innings to
allow the amazing comeback. The Grizzlies
finished 6-1 to earn the 15th seed into
the 96-team single-elimination tournament.
They knocked off 46th seed Palos Verdes
Waves of California 14-1 and the 18th seed
Jersey Bulldogs of New Jersey 6-5 on
Wednesday night to advance to the "Sweet
16". On Thursday, they upset the 2nd seed
Las Vegas Baseball Academy Lightning of
Nevada 10-6 and continued by defeating the
23rd seed Hardball of Florida 17-2 and 6th
seed West Valley Hawks of California 21-3
in their quest for the championship game
appearance. Hard 90 Rival of Belmont,
California was managed by Rick Sundberg.
They were undefeated in regular team play
which earned them the 4th seed in the
96-team single-elimination tournament. The
Rivals defeated the 32nd seed Carroll
Cannons of Maryland 14-2 on Wednesday
night. and continued in the "Sweet 16" by
beating the Chicago North Shore Sharks of
Illinois 12-4. They then knock off the
12th seeded CCC Rockers of California 3-2
and the top-seed American Avengers of
Texas 9-4 in advancing to the championship
game. J.R. Robinson had a superb
championship game as he led Hard 90 with
three hits including two home runs, six
RBI's and scoring two runs. Guillermo
Salazar pitched five innings striking out
five of 22 batters he faced and was well
on his way to victory until the Grizzlies
found a way to score in the late innings.
Offensively, Salazar added two hits, while
Matt Olson, Tanner Hetzel, Joe Ellis and
Jimmy Shaw each contributed with one. This
was Coach Sundberg's second appearance in
a championship game at Cooperstown Dreams
Park. He managed the Star Maker Red Legs,
who won Week #10 in 2004, defeating the
Nevada Wildcats 9-2.

Week #9 Champions - California Sliders

Record Setting Week for Sliders leads to
Championship
Mackenna
Stuart went 3-for-4 with three home runs
and five RBI 's to lead the California
Sliders of Turlock, California past the
Syracuse Jr. Skychiefs Red, 13-1, to claim
the week 9 championship at Cooperstown
Dreams Park. The Sliders (10-0) totaled 13
hits as a team and also set a new home run
record for the week blasting 72 home runs.
The record was previously held by the
Orlando Sting, set back in 2000, hitting
71 home runs. Steven Martinez struck out
five batters, allowing two walks and one
hit in three innings, to earn winning
pitcher honors. The Sliders, managed by
Steven Orisio, started the 96-team
tournament field on Thursday morning,
after earning a bye on Wednesday, as the
top-seed defeating 16th seed OC Stars
(CA), 13-1. They went on to defeat the 9th
seed Desert Firebirds (AZ), 13-1 and the
4th seed Rhode Island Wolf Pack (RI), 3-2
to advance to the championship game. For
Syracuse, managed by Dom Caruso, James
Novakowski went 1-for-2, including a solo
home run to lead the Skychiefs (10-1).
Matt Dipaulo added one hit, while pitching
a three-hitter in 2/3 of an inning.
Syracuse earned the 3rd seed in the
96-team tournament. On Wednesday night,
they knocked off the 30th seed Team Titans
(FL), 5-4. They went on to defeat the 19th
seed Palm Desert Storm (AZ), 7-3, the 27th
seed Team Connecticut Baseball (CT), 5-4
and #2 seed Ryder Showtime Dodgers (WA),
4-1, to earn the second birth in the
championship game. This was the first time
the Syracuse Jr. Skychiefs organization
participated in a championship game at
Cooperstown Dreams Park.

Week #8 Champions - Tallahassee Horns

Rough Start Ends in Fine Finish for
Tallahassee

Sands came on in relief to earn the
victory for the Tallahassee Horns of
Florida in the Week 8 championship at
Cooperstown Dreams Park. Sands struck out
13 of 19 batters he faced allowing just
two walks and no runs as the Horns (11-0)
defeated the Olney Pirates of Maryland 6-5
on Thursday evening. Matthew Railey went
2-for-3 with a 3-run blast to put the
Horns ahead for good. Sands also added
three hits, including a two-run home run.
Drew Dickey added two hits, while Garrett
Larkin and Robert Robbins each added one.
The Pirates (11-1) got things started
early jumping out to a 5-0 lead after the
first inning. Errol Robinson led off with
a solo home run, while Cody Acker, Antonio
Pino and Brian Battaglia (two RBI) each
had one hit. Tallahassee Horns, managed by
David Elsebernd, earned a bye as the
top-seed in the 97-team single-elimination
tournament . During the "Sweet 16" the
Horns defeated the 46th seed Herndon
Hammer of Virginia, 16-5. They went on to
edge the 9th seed Southwest Stars from
Minnesota, 6-4 and squeezed by the 4th
seed Bases Loaded Bo Sox of North
Carolina, 5-4, to advance to the
championship game. For the Olney Pirates,
managed by Tony Pino, they started
Wednesday evening as the 3rd seed,
knocking off the 33rd seed Ramapo Rangers
of New Jersey, 12-0. They defeated the
14th seed Pickerington Purple Tigers from
Ohio, 14-1, to advance to the "Elite
Eight". From there, they beat the 6th seed
TC Predators from Utah, 12-4 and the 15th
seed Otown Knights of Florida, 10-4, to
earn a showdown with the Horns in the
championship.

Week #7 Champions - Hit After Hit Baseball

Pitching prevails for Title Second year in
a Row
The
Hit after Hit Baseball Academy from
Nashville, Tennessee continued there
success in their second year at
Cooperstown Dreams Park. Griffith Ganick
drove in the only run of the game in the
second inning to lead Hit after Hit to a
1-0 victory over the Shiloh Heat from
Snellville, Georgia and claimed the Week 7
championship. Hunter Wood was outstanding
in pitching a complete-game striking out
12 of the 18 batters he faced, allowing
only two hits and game up only one walk to
earn the victory. Ross Grosvner, Kyle
Brennan, Seth Campbell and Penn Murfee
each added a hit for Hit after Hit which
finished the tournament 11-0. David
Milligan and David Mayo combined to strike
out nine batters and allowed five hits for
the Shiloh Heat who were 12-1 at Dreams
Park. Jack Banda and Bryn Parten each
contributed a hit. The Hit after Hit
Baseball Academy earned the second seed
which gave them a bye on Wednesday
evening. They started tournament play on
Thursday morning defeating the 15th seed
Carolina Reds (SC), 2-1 to advance to the
"Elite Eight" and continued to roll past
the 7th seeded Lake Shore Gray Sox (MD),
10-1 and the sixth seed Central Florida
Squeeze (FL), 5-3 to make it to the
championship game. The Heat, managed by
Mike Scavo, started tournament play on
Wednesday evening knocking off the 62nd
seed Brecksville Bees (OH), 10-8 and the
41st seed Downers Grove Longshots (IL),
2-0. On Thursday morning they defeated the
32nd seed By-You Gurus (LA), 5-1 and 21st
seed Santa Fe Sliders (FL), 7-3 to advance
to the semi-finals. The Heat upset the
top-seed San Antonio Angels (TX), 10-6, to
advance to the championship game. The Hit
after Hit Baseball Academy is coached by
Chris Mercado, who in his second year has
won two championships at Cooperstown
Dreams Park. He is on his way to becoming
one of most successful coaches in Dreams
Park history.

Four Time Champs Show Power in
Victory

Mrkonja was the igniter that started the
fire for Beaver Valley Red to claim the
Week 6 championship at Cooperstown Dreams
Park. Mrkonja went 3-for-4 with 3 home
runs and seven RBI to lead the 4th seed
Beaver Valley Red (PA) past the 3rd seed
West Pines Cobras (FL), 10-2 on Friday
morning. Chris Wastchik pitched a
complete-game, allowing two runs on seven
hits and striking out seven batters for
Beaver Valley Red (11-0). Wastchik also
contributed offensively with a solo home
run, as Adam Bleday added three hits and
Nick Vento, Brock Baranowski and Brad
Gresock each had two hits. The Cobras'
Eddie Salomon got things going in the
fifth-inning when he belted a two-run home
run to put the West Pines Cobras (10-1) on
the scoreboard. Carlos Lopez and Zach
Smith each contributed with two hits as
Chris Khawly added one. Beaver Valley
started the single-elimination tournament
on Wednesday evening by defeating the 32nd
seed Show Me State Tigers of Missouri,
15-3 to advance to the Sweet 16. On
Thursday, they knocked off the 41st seed
Home Crush of Illinois, 14-2, the 5th seed
Miramar Maddogs of Florida, 8-5 and the
#16th seed Team Maryland, 4-3 to advance
to the championship game on Friday
morning. The West Pines Cobras, led by Jim
Murray, shut out the 31st seed Spanish
Fork Heat of Utah, 12-0 to advance to the
sweet 16 on Thursday morning. They went on
to defeat the 14th seed Las Vegas
Highrollers of Nevada, 7-6 and the 27th
Powder Springs Longhorns from Georgia, 9-8
to advance to the semifinal game. The
Cobras needed one extra inning, to squeak
by the 10th seed Swansea Cardinals of
Massachuttes, 7-6 to advance to the week
#6 championship game. The Beaver Valley
baseball club, managed by Brian Smith,
tied a team record earning their fourth
championship in 12 years at Cooperstown
Dreams Park. The San Diego Stars (CA) are
the only other team to share this record.
The team also totaled 39 home runs for the
week.

Week #5 Champions - Hawaii Sluggers

Making History for Hawaii at Cooperstown
Dreams Park
The
Hawaii Sluggers (HI) have accomplished
something that 42 other Hawaii teams could
not
a championship in Cooperstown,
New York. The Sluggers from Honolulu,
Hawaii defeated the Mac-N-Seitz Indians of
Kansas City, Kansas 11-5 to capture the
Week 5 title at Cooperstown Dreams Park.
Nick Alarcio lead the Sluggers going
3-for-4 at the plate including two home
runs, a double and four runs batted in.
Austin Darmawan and Vance Fuchigami each
added two hits. David Torigoe pitched 3
2/3 innings while striking out eight
batters that he faced allowing four hits
and two runs to earn the victory. For
Mac-N-Seitz, 11-1, they jumped out to a
1-0 lead in the top-half of the first
inning, with Clayton Custer scoring on a
passed ball from third base. Sam Kindred
belted a two-run shot, while Connor Taylor
added two hits. The Hawaii Sluggers,
managed by Fili Filefa, earned the
top-seed in the 96-team single-elimination
tournament and a bye until Thursday
morning. The Sluggers defeated the #17
seed Texas Raptors, 12-0, during the sweet
16. In the elite eight, they edged the 9th
seed Gulf Coast Gators of Mississippi, 5-4
and blanked the fifth seed Turn 2 Baseball
of Texas, 4-0, to make their way to the
championship game. As for the Indians,
managed by Jeff Foster, they knocked off
the 26th seed Proway Colt 45's from Texas,
9-0. They went on to defeat the 10th seed
Flower Mound Warriors of Texas, 5-4, the
2nd seed South Wake Storm from North
Carolina, 16-5 and 22nd seed South Oakland
A's of Michigan, 14-2, as they advanced to
the championship game.

Week #4 Champions - Texas Stampede

EH Leads team to victory for Texas
Stampede
The
Texas Stampede relied on the bottom of the
lineup to hoist the crown at Cooperstown
Dreams Park. Extra-hitter Alex Dunlop had
an outstanding game going 2-for-2, with
two home runs and two RBI to lead the
ninth-seeded Stampede (11-0) past the
seventh-seeded Carolina Crushers (10-1),
4-3. The Crushers, managed by Troy Walls,
scored all its runs in the bottom of the
first inning with Cody Trogdon leading the
team with a two-run home run and Shane
Billings driving in Tim Amick. Dylan Patin
pitched a complete-game 3 hitter, while
striking out 10 batters to earn the
victory. Tristian Sanders hit the go ahead
home run for the Stampede that eventually
won the game. JT Cherry also contributed
with a solo shot. The 7th seed Carolina
Crushers, from Randleman, NC, defeated the
35th seed Powder Springs War Eagles, 8-0
to advance to the sweet 16. They went on
to eliminate the 23rd seed Round Rock
Warriors (TX), 12-6, the 15th seed Florida
Xtreme, 11-4 and the 6th seed Cherokee
Reds (GA), 19-2 on Thursday to advance to
the championship game. The Texas Stampede,
managed by Mike Jackson, had to face five
teams before earning its way to the
championship. They defeated the #52 seed
Three Village Yankees Red, 9-0 and #24
seed Island Boyz, 9-1 to advance to the
sweet 16. From there, they knocked off the
#8 seed Texas Longhorns, 7-4, upset the #1
seed Glendale Knights (CA), 14-1 and the
#13 seed Wills Park Wild Dogs (GA), 13-4
to advance to the finals.

Rocket City Lights Up Dreams Park with
Home Run Fest
The
bats were light and the balls were flying
out of the stadium during the Week #3
championship game as the Rocket City
Baseball Club Stingers of Huntsville,
Alabama and the Coral Springs Diamonds of
Coral Springs, Florida both put on a
hitting display in front of a massive
crowd on hand at Cooperstown Dreams Park.
The Stingers (12-0) were led by Jackson
Stephens with a 3-run home blast, while
Dathan Prewitt, Trent Simpson and Taylor
Propst each contributed with one, as they
defeated the Diamonds, 6-3. Austin Sanders
pitched a complete-game four hitter while
striking out 11 batters. Coral Springs,
managed by Butch Kopec, (11-1) jumped out
to an early lead when Ryan Richman
hammered a solo shot in the first inning.
Richman also pitched four innings,
allowing four hits and six runs scored.
The Diamonds reached the finals by
defeating the 34th seed Baltimore Buzz,
17-5 on Wednesday night. They went on to
defeat the 11th seed East Cobb Astros,
11-9 during the Sweet 16. In the elite
eight they crushed the Newnan Yankees,
14-4 and they ousted the 10th seed
Cincinnati Mavericks, 17-5 to reach the
finals. Rocket City, managed by Richard
Cole, started tournament play on Wednesday
evening, defeating the 28th seed Oxford
Yellow Jackets (AL), 19-7. They went on to
knock off the 12th seed Roanoke Badgers,
12-2. The Stingers blanked the fourth seed
Bay Area Blazers, 15-0 and defeated the
number one seed Memphis Travelers, 4-3 to
reach the championship game.

Week #2 Champions - Chattanooga Chiefs

Chattanooga Chiefs victorious in 10 and
Under Championship
The
Chattanooga Chiefs of Chattanooga, Georgia
won the 2007 10 & under championship
at Cooperstown Dreams Park defeating TSB
Baseball of Central Valley, California
10-3. The Chiefs, managed by Chris Frix,
started the championship game strong with
an early lead when they scored three runs
in the first inning. Leading 6-0 in the
fifth the Chiefs almost let TSB back in
the game as TSB scored three runs to cut
the margin to just three. The Chiefs held
on to win the game with four more runs in
the sixth. Winning pitcher, Slade Dale,
struck out 8 and walked 5 in his five
innings of work. Blake Hamilton came on in
the sixth to get the last three outs for
the Chiefs. Catcher, Logan Peterson, was 3
for 3 and scored three runs for
Chattanooga while teammates Drew Vaughn
and Slade Dale each had two. Both teams
were 7-0 in regular game action before
tournament play began. The Chattanooga
Cheifs defeated #30 Hawaiian Punch (HI)
15-2, #14 Southern California Sidewinders
(CA) 5-1, #34 Region Redbirds (IN) 8-0 and
#15 Florida Fire (FL) 13-1 in tournament
play prior to the championship game. The
TSB Baseball team defeated #16 Cincy
Flames (OH) 7-3, #8 North County Longhorns
(CA) 4-3 and #13 East Cobb Astros (GA) 2-1
in tournament plan before falling to the
Chattanooga Chiefs.

Week #1 Champions - Tamiami Rangers

Tamiami Rangers
power their way to Championship
at Cooperstown Dreams
Park
The Tamiami Rangers
of Miami, Florida powered their way to the
Week #1 championship with a 6-1 victory
over another Florida team, the Tampa Heat.
The top-seeded Rangers, managed by Felix
Roque, were powered by pitcher Mark
Hernandez who recorded fifteen strikeouts
on the mound while blasting a two-run home
run to get the game started by Tamiami in
the bottom of the first as they took a 2-0
lead. Tamiami was never headed as they
increased the score to 5-0 with three runs
in the third on a solo home run by left
fielder Anthony Gonzales and one more run
in the fifth. Gonzalez also had two
singles to go three for three at the plate
and scored three runs. The other two hits
by the Rangers were recorded by Daniel
Sanchez and J.C. Baxley. The Tampa Heat,
managed by Gary Garcia, closed the score
to 5-1 with a solo shot by second baseman
Victor Pelligrino in the top of the fourth
inning which turned out to be the only hit
by Tampa in the game. Hernandez was superb
as he shut down the potent hitting of the
Heat and set the side down in order in the
second, third, fifth and sixth innings on
his way to recording the victory. Tamiami
recorded seven victories in the regular
game play leading up to tournament
victories over the #45 Duneland Flyers of
Indiana, the #9 Knoxville Stars of
Tennessee, #12 Team Rawlings of Florida
and the Tampa Heat. The Heat, seeded
second, also recorded 7-0 regular game
play before defeating the #18 Team Oakley
of Florida, #7 Viper Baseball Academy of
Alabama and #6 Utah Cutters in tournament
action. The championship game last one
hour and thirty-four minutes.
