Peter Alonso

Peter Alonso competed at Cooperstown Dreams Park during Week 3 in 2007 with the Sarasota Salty Dogs (FL).

Peter graduated from Plant High School (Tampa, FL) where he was an infielder for the baseball team and member of the National Honor Society. Peter’s scholastic baseball accolade include his team’s leadership award, three-time member of Tampa Bay Times’ All-Suncoast Team, a second-team Preseason All-American, and was named to the Florida All-Region First Team by Rawlings/Perfect Game prior to his senior year as well the Tampa Tribune’s All-Hillsborough County team. Peter also received the 2013 Wade Boggs Athletic Achievement Award, based upon outstanding athletic skills, exceptional academic achievement, good sportsmanship and exemplary conduct.

Peter continued his education and baseball careers at the University of Florida (Gainesville, FL) where he was named NCBWA Second Team Freshman All-American and SEC All-Freshman Team in 2014 and to the SEC All-Tournament Team in 2015. During his final collegiate season, Peter was a Dick Howser Trophy Semifinalist and was named to D1baseball.com First Team All-America, NCBWA First Team All-America, Perfect Game/Rawlings First Team All-America, ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-America, Baseball America Third Team All-America, ABCA All-South Region First Team, All-SEC Second Team, and NCAA Gainesville Regional Most Outstanding Player.

Peter was drafted by the New York Mets in the 2016 Major League Baseball amateur draft. He made his major league debut with the Mets on March 28, 2019.
