Derrick Bligh competed at Cooperstown Dreams Park during week 8 in 2002 with the Wayne PAL Wolfpack (NJ). Some of Derrick's memories and accomplishments at Cooperstown Dreams Park include winning a game on the mound and having fun meeting kids from all over the country.

Derrick attended Wayne Valley High School (Wayne, NJ) where he played football and baseball. His high school accolades include All League and state runner up in football, 1st Team All State, 1st Team All County, and runner up for County Player of the Year for baseball. In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Derrick was a Scholar Athlete and named to the All Academic Team.

Derrick attends Iona College (New Rochelle, NY) on an Academic Scholarship. A right-handed pitcher on the baseball team, Derrick completed his freshman season (2009) appearing in 10 games and made 9 appearances in relief his sophomore year (2010). Derrick was also a member of Iona College's 2008 football team, listed on the roster as a quarterback. This was the last year Iona College had a football program.
