Former
Cooperstown Dreams Park Players Played in 2008 World
Series
|
Two former Dreams Park players were a part
of the 2008 World Series which featured the Tampa
Bay Rays against the Philadelphia Phillies. Rays
righthander Matt Garza, who played for the
Central Valley Baseball Club from Fesno, California
at Dreams Park in 1996 and was drafted 25th in the
2005 Major League Player draft, was named the 2008
American League Championship Series Most Valuable
Player going 2-0 with a 1.38 earned run average
while playing against the Boston Red Sox. He also
appeared as a starting pitcher in the 2008 World
Series. He was traded in the 2010-2011 off season
and pitched this year for the Chicago Cubs.

His teammate with the Rays, David
Price, a 1998 Dreams Park player with the
Tennessee All Stars was drafted #1 overall in the
2007 Major League Player draft, picked up his first
major league save in the 2008 ALCS against the Red
Sox and also appeared in the 2008 World Series
against the Phillies. In 2010 both Matt and David
enjoyed great performances in the starting rotation
for the Tampa Ray's. David Price even finished
second in the American League Cy Young Award voting
which is given annually in baseball to the best
pitchers in Major League Baseball. He is in the
starting rotation for the Ray's.
Congratulations to both Matt Garza and
David Price for their outstanding
accomplishments! Both appear to have a bright
future in "Living their Dreams" in the major
leagues.
