A group of young baseball players from Central Texas is making memories on one of the sport's biggest stages. The 12U CenTex Bandits, part of the larger CenTex Bandits organization based in Temple, are competing this week at Cooperstown Dreams Park, a premier youth baseball destination that hosts elite 12-and-under teams from across the country.

More than 100 teams, including squads from as far away as Hawaii, are participating in the tournament, giving players the opportunity to compete against some of the nation's top youth talent.

For the CenTex Bandits, the trip is about more than just baseball.

The team has visited the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, where players were able to learn about the sport's history and some of its greatest legends. The week will conclude Thursday evening with the tournament's closing ceremony, during which all participating players will be inducted into the National Youth Baseball Hall of Fame.

Because Cooperstown Dreams Park is exclusively for 12U teams, many families view the experience as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The Bandits have also found success on the field. Through tournament play, the team has combined to hit 17 home runs while representing Central Texas against competition from around the United States.

While wins and losses are part of the experience, the memories made in Cooperstown are expected to last far longer than the final score.

Go Bandits!
