Forsyth County youth baseball team reaches Cooperstown title game

A Forsyth County, Georgia youth baseball team recently completed an impressive run at Cooperstown Dreams Park in Cooperstown New York, reaching the championship game during Week 8 of the tournament.

The Midway Scout team, made up of 13 young baseball players, advanced through a field of 104 teams and won 10 of its 11 games. The team ultimately finished second, completing a memorable week of Cooperstown baseball competition.

Most of the players have been teammates since they were six years old. Their experience at Cooperstown Dreams Park also included a parade, fireworks and activities for their families before tournament play began.

After returning home to Georgia, the Midway Scout coaches held a poolside ceremony to recognize the players. Each player received a homemade paper-plate award designed to recognize his personality and contributions to the team. Head coach Vaughn Lemoine helped present the awards during the celebration.

Coach Hugh Quattlebaum also spoke to the players about the challenges they had overcome together and the role those experiences played in the team’s success. The gathering ended with the players chanting together before jumping into the pool.

The second-place trophy marked Midway Scout’s strong performance on the field at Cooperstown Dreams Park, while the post-tournament celebration reflected the close connection among the players, coaches and families who had shared the experience.

For Midway Scout, the trip to Cooperstown, New York concluded with a 10-1 record, a championship-game appearance and a second-place finish in a 104-team field.
