William Raines made
a second appearance at Cooperstown Dreams
Park as an assistant coach with the South
Carolina Sting (SC) during Week 5 in 2009.
The first was in Week 4 of 2005 as a
player for the Carolina Sting (SC).
As a player at Cooperstown Dreams Park,
William was on a team undefeated through
pool play with an average of .87 runs
allowed per game. Although losing the
quarter final game, William remembers
getting two hits in the loss to go along
with hitting his first home run. He
finished the week with a .471 batting
average.
William attends Blacksburg High School
(Blacksburg, SC) and was the MVP of the
Junior Varsity Wildcat baseball team. He
has also received Academic Awards, Coaches
Award, Beta Club awards, and was named to
the All-Region team. William is also a
leader for the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes and a member of his church's
youth group.
After high school, William hopes to play
baseball in college and has considered
several schools in the South Carolina
area. Once in college William plans on
majoring in Education so that one day he
can teach Mathematics and coach
baseball.
