Daren Card

Daren Card was part of the second team of the respective organization Jamestown Jock Shop Cooperstown Kids (NY) to compete at Cooperstown Dreams Park during week 7 in 2000. He helped the club record their first win by hitting the team’s first home run which was also his first competitive home run.

 

Daren graduated from Falconer Central School (Falconer, NY) where his interests were in science and mathematics throughout high school. He did compete on the school’s soccer and basketball teams. He also played AAU basketball and made several All-League teams.

 

He continued his education first at SUNY Jamestown Community College (Jamestown, NY) where he received his Associates Degree. Daren completed his Bachelor’s Degree at SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry (Syracuse, NY).  Daren went on to pursue his Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Arlington (Arlington, TX) where he was awarded an Enhanced Teaching Assistantship.

 

Daren continued working towards his ultimate career goal – a university professor who conducts research on evolution and genetics as well as educating college students. His next step was at Harvard University as a Postdoctoral Associate, where he studied the genetics of limblessness in reptiles.
