Cotey Monte and the Swansea Cardinals (MA) played at Cooperstown Dreams Park during Week 10 in 2008. He returned as an assistant coach with the same organization in 2015 and 2016 during weeks 10 and 11, respectively, helping coach his little brother alongside their father.

Cotey graduated from Joseph Case High School (Swansea, MA) where he played baseball and hockey. Cotey continued both his academic and baseball careers at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (Dartmouth, MA).
