For three straight summers, Benjamin Wetherby made the trek to Cooperstown Dreams Park with the Carolina Contenders (NC) (Week 6 in 2004, Week 5 in 2005, and Week 7 in 2006); each time creating memories with his team.
During his play at Dreams Park, Benjamin hit 4 home runs, 2 in tournament games. One of the home runs sealed the team’s first tournament win. “I also remember collecting every team pin.”
Benjamin continued with baseball throughout high school at Independence High School (Charlotte, NC) as well as football, track & field, and tennis. He was named All State in football (2010), All Conference in football (2010 and 2011) and the 2010 Team MUP Football. In addition to sports, Benjamin was member of the National Honor Society, Boy Scouts, and Academy of International Studies. His honors include SECU People Helping People and Eagle Scout.
Benjamin went on to sign with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, NC) to become a Tar Heel for the football team while majoring in finance. A member of the UNC Finance Society, Benjamin, who studied abroad in India, was a Dean’s List student and was accepted into the Kenan Flagler Business School Assured Admit Program. After receiving his college degree, Benjamin worked for Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a Portfolio Management Officer/Underwriter.
