Dansby Swanson

Dansby Swanson competed at Cooperstown Dreams Park during N.A.T.C. with the Peachtree City National Travel Team (GA) in 2006. He helped his team reach the championship game losing at tight one, 7-6, to Team Anderson (CA).

 

Dansby attended Marietta High School (Marietta, GA) where he was a two-sport athlete in baseball and basketball earning multiple honors in both sports, lettering three years in both, while serving as team captain on the basketball team his final two season. Dansby played summer baseball for the East Cobb Yankees, winning the 2012 Perfect Game national championship. He was a 38th round pick by the Colorado Rockies in the 2012 Major League Baseball amateur draft but decided to fulfill his commitment to attend and play baseball at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN).

 

An infielder, Dansby had three successful seasons with Vanderbilt. At the conclusion of the 2014 College World Series, Dansby was named Most Outstanding Player of the College World Series and to the All-Tournament team. In 2015, he was one of four finalists for the Golden Spikes Award. Dansby’s additional accolades included 2012-2013 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, 2014 3rd Team All-American (ABCA, BA, CB), 2014 3rd Team All-American (ABCA, BA, CB), 2014 2nd Team All-American (PG), 2014 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll, and 2015 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll.

 

Dansby entered the 2015 MLB amateur draft and was the first overall pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks. In December 2015, Dansby was traded to the Atlanta Braves where he made his major league debut on August 17, 2016. Dansby and the Atlanta Braves clinched the 2021 World Series against the Houston Astros.
