Before Bryce Harper became the number one first-round draft pick by the Washington Nationals in the 2010 Major League Baseball Amateur draft, he competed at Cooperstown Dreams Park during four weeks between the years of 2003-2005.

In 2003, Bryce was a member of Cooperstown Dreams Park's 10U championship team, San Diego Stars North (CA). In 2004, he returned with the San Diego Stars organization, competing during the National Tournament of Champions (N.A.T.C.).

Bryce competed during weeks 3 and 11 (N.A.T.C.) in 2005, with the McDowell Mountain Yankees (AZ) and the Southern Nevada Bulldogs (NV), respectively.

Bryce excelled on the field after participating at Cooperstown Dreams Park. His accolades include NYB All American Team (2005), TBS 12u All American team (2005), TBS 13u All American Team (2006), TBS 14u All American Team (2007), TBS 14u Player of the Year (2007), All Area Code Team (2008), All World Team (2008), batting average leader for the state of Nevada (2008), Player of the Year North-East Division (2008), 1st team All State Catcher (2008), 1st Team All Sunrise Division Catcher (2008), Babe Ruth Award (2009), and Baseball American High School Player of the Year (2009).

Bryce completed his freshman year at the College of Southern Nevada (Clark County, NV). He competed in 66 games, hitting 31 home runs, recording 98 RBI, and posting .443 BA, .526 OBP, and .987 SLG. Bryce's 31 home runs smashed the school's previous record of 12. He was named the 2010 Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) Player of the Year. Bryce led his team to the 2010 Western district finals of the 2010 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) World Series. He went 6-for-7 with 5 RBIs and hit for the cycle, then went went 2-for-5 with a three-run double in the first game of a doubleheader, and in the second game went 6-for-6 with 4 home runs, a triple, and a double. Bryce received the 2010 Golden Spikes Award, given annually by USA Baseball and sponsored by the Major League Baseball Players Association to the best amateur baseball player.

After his draft selection in 2010, Bryce competed in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) with the Scottsdale Scorpions (Scottsdale, AZ). With a .343 batting average, .410 on-base percentage and .629 slugging percentage over 35 at-bats, he helped his team clinch the 2010 AFL championship.

Bryce spent part of the 2011 season with the Class-A Hagerstown Suns (Hagerstown, MD), where he was named Southern Atlantic League Player of the Week (May 9, 2011). After 72 games with Hagerstown, Bryce moved on to AA Harrisburg Senators (Harrisburg, PA). Bryce began the 2012 season with the Syracuse Chiefs (Syracuse, NY), AAA affiliate of the Washington Nationals. On April 28, 2012, he made his major league debut when the Nationals called him up. Bryce then became the youngest position player in MLB All-Star history to participate in the annual All-Star game on July 10, 2012. He completed the 2012 season being named National League Rookie of the Year.
